Banner Forms (INB) is accessible with Java 8, however Java 8 natively does not work with Banner Forms (INB). This article will assist you in making changes in Java 8 to allow Banner to run normally. 
Please note that this guide if for Banner Forms (INB) users only. If you use ODS, Workflow, BDMS, or other related services, updating to Java 8 may cause issues.

If you see the following when attempting to use Banner Forms (INB), then please do the following to enabled Java 8 to work with Banner based on your Operating System:

Java 8 Workaround Instructions for Windows

  1. Type "Configure Java" in the Search programs and files box.


  2. Click Configure Java. The Java Control Panel should popup. 


  3. Click on the Advanced Tab in the Java Control Panel


  4. Scroll down to the "Advanced Security Settings" section and do the following:
    1. Uncheck TLS 1.1, & TLS 1.2
    2. Leave TLS 1.0 checked


  5. Click Apply. Click Ok to exit the Java Control Panel.

  6. Close your Internet Browser if it is currently open and re-open it. Banner should now be accessible. (tick)

Java 8 Workaround Instructions for Mac OS X

  1. Go to System Preferences
  2. Click Java. The Java Control Panel should popup.
  3. Click on the Advanced Tab in the Java Control Panel
  4. Scroll down to the "Advanced Security Settings" section and do the following:
    1. Uncheck SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format, TLS 1.1, & TLS 1.2 if not already.
    2. Check TLS 1.0 if not already.
  5. Click Apply. Click Ok to exit the Java Control Panel.

  6. Close your Internet Browser if it is currently open and re-open it. Banner should now be accessible. (tick)

Step-by-step guide


  1. Open the Java Control Panel
    1. For Windows: Type "Configure Java" in the Search programs and files box and Click Configure Java. The Java Control Panel should popup.
    2. For Mac OS X: Go to System Preferences and Click Java. The Java Control Panel should popup.

  2. In the Java Control Panel, under the General tab, click Settings under the Temporary Internet Files section.

  3. Click Delete Files on the Temporary Files Settings dialog.

  4. Click OK on the Delete Files and Applications dialog. This deletes all the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the cache.

Supported Browser for Banner Forms (INB)

Banner Forms (INB): Internet Explorer (v10+) & Safari (v5 +)

Google Chrome (v45 released 9/3/15) is NOT Compatible with Banner Forms (INB).

Mozilla Firefox (v52 released 3/7/17) is NOT Compatible with Banner Forms (INB).

Microsoft Edge is NOT Compatible with Banner Forms (INB).

Google Chrome 45+ & Mozilla Firefox 52+ Banner Forms (INB)

Chrome 45 and Firefox 52 no longer supports the NPAPI plugin used by Java that is needed to run Banner Forms (INB). Unfortunately due to this change in functionality in Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, Banner Forms (INB) is no longer accessible.
